A live music bar in San Pa Khoi
Chiang Mai

LATE NIGHT TALKING MUSIC BAR. Bands every night in the old quarter east of the Ping, built on one idea: an emotionful music bar

" We've been doing all this late night talkin' 'bout anythin' you want to do in the mornin' "

OUR STORY

It started with one word: "emotionful"

THE EMOTIONFUL IDEA

LATE NIGHT TALKING MUSIC BAR came out of a simple word, emotionful. Late at night is when what people actually think finds its way out.

The bar sits in San Pa Khoi, the old quarter on the east bank of the Ping that most visitors to Chiang Mai never cross into. It is quieter than Nimman and it stays a working neighbourhood after dark, which is exactly the point.

Nothing here is rushed. The band is the centre of the night, and two floors let you choose how you take it. Downstairs by the stage to sing along, upstairs where you can talk to the person you came with.

ABOUT FAQ

About the bar

What kind of place is this?

A live music bar in San Pa Khoi, Chiang Mai, built around the idea of being "emotionful": warm, unhurried, with bands playing every night. Open daily 18:00–00:00, two floors so you can pick the mood, and it works equally for a date, a group, or coming alone to listen.

How is it different from other bars in Chiang Mai?

The band is the point, every night rather than at weekends. Two floors let one room do two things: downstairs by the stage for singing along, upstairs quieter for talking. Most places make you choose between those.

Is it worth coming on a weeknight?

Yes. There are live bands seven nights a week, with a different line-up each night, playing Thai and international songs people know. Weeknights are quieter, which many people prefer.

What genres do the bands play?

Mainly Pop, Rock, Acoustic, Indie and Pop-Rock, both Thai and international. The line-up rotates nightly, so see the live music page for the week. There is no jazz night and no DJ set.

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants live music in a room where conversation is still possible: people out after work, couples, groups of two to six, and travellers who want a live music bar locals actually use. Over-20s only.

Where does the name come from?

From the idea of being "emotionful". Late night is when people say what they actually mean, and a drink in hand makes it easier. LATE NIGHT TALKING MUSIC BAR is that: honest conversation, late, unhurried, never so loud you have to shout.

Can you host a party or company night?

Yes, for 20 to 50 people: company parties, birthdays, reunions or launches. It usually works as a reserved zone rather than closing the whole bar, downstairs by the stage or upstairs where it is quieter. Ask on LINE @latenightmusicbar.
